Winslet Homme-less
Kate Winslet says it’s fine that she’s without a husband – namely this time Sam Mendes because, I mean, really – and she says that her singletonness is quite empowering. That’s power with an m. And that’s after seven years. High five, sistah!
Whatever you say, don’t call her lonely or she’ll punch you in the face.
Kate, who finished the TV series Mildred Pierce, with director Steven Soderbergh‘s...
Is Mel Gibson’s Beaver Ray Winstone?
The Beaver trailer
It’s been a long time coming but suddenly the new Mel Gibson film ‘The Beaver’ is getting its release. Directed by twice Oscar-winning and long-time Gibson pal Jodie Foster, this looks like a really good film about a serious mental breakdown – FUN!
Two-time Oscar winner Gibson (who rarely acts these days) stars as Walter Black, a once successful exec. When his depression becomes crippling, he turns to a...
Who’s got a UK release?: Yep, it’s ‘The Beaver’
Wow, hurrah for Icon! This takes some cojones. Not that they ever had any association with Mel Gibson (well, they did: Gibson owned part of them until recently) but it just goes to show that the UK is a good place to open films that you’re not quite sure about… and Hollywood really isn’t sure about ‘The Beaver’, the comedy directed by Jodie Foster and starring her pal Mel Gibson.
The bad news? ‘The Beaver’...
Look, it’s THE BEAVER!
More from the American Film Market or AFM to them that know. This is a regular trade festival where people come to baloney their way into getting a film made. And why not, I ask you?! There are rights to be bought, completed films looking for a nice family to go home to.. which brings us to the completed Jodie Foster-directed, Mel Gibson-starring film ‘The Beaver’ which, as you may have noticed, has no home to go to. That’s right....
Whoever Is Without Sin Can Throw The First Stone…
The less-than-perfect, less-sanctimonious folks in Hollywood are rallying to Mel Gibson‘s defense – first, Whoopi Goldberg. Then Jodie Foster (who has made a few films with Mad Mel, and directed him in the languishing-in-limbo comedy ‘The Beaver’) and now – oooh who? – Robert Downey Jr.
Downey has said that he will always ‘love’ (yes, he used the l-word) Gibson for hiring him when Downey was down on...
“I’m having a stroke! It’s so COOL!”
Ron Howard has reportedly committed to doing ‘My Stroke Of Insight’. If handled well, this could be a cutting-edge version of ‘Eat Pray Love’ for the mind.
The story is based on Dr Jill Bolte Taylor’s book about her stroke. The Harvard-educated neuro-anatomist couldn’t read, walk, write or recall her past. It took eight years to get better again BUT, she knew how brains worked. So, she detailed her recovery exactly.

Kate & Matt & Jodie & Christoph & Roman
Good directors can get good actors. If that’s the rule, then Roman Polanski has just cinched his ‘good director’ medal with a dazzling cast confirmed for his next feature film.
Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet will join Matt Dillon and Christoph Waltz in a film adaptation of the Tony-award winning play ‘God of Carnage’. The story sounds a bit like ‘Little Children’ but better: two pairs of parents must meet...
