So Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) who also does a very good red carpet Pamela Anderson impression (see above) has landed the lead female role in The Hunger Games.
Lawrence kicked butt against fellow actresses Chloe Moretz (Let Me In), Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass), Saoirse Ronan (Atonement), Emma Roberts (Scream 4), Kaya Scodelario (Moon) and Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), who were all in the running, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Hunger Games is an adaptation of the adult sci-fi novel by Suzanne Collins, which tells the tale of a young girl (Lawrence) who joins a survival contest in order to save her community in a dystopian future.
Directed by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit), other stars currently under consideration for the role of Peeta Mellark, include Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four), Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) and Hunter Parish (Weeds). The Hunger Games is due to hit cinemas on March 23 next year.
Lawrence meanwhile appears in two of this Summer’s upcoming blockbusters, X-Men: First Class and The Beaver (yes, the one with Mad Mel!).
