McQueen Goes Military For Pre A/W 2011

*Stand to attention* because the pre A/W 11 collection fromĀ Alexander McQueen is inspired by all things military, which will no doubt cause a mini battle-to-buy-first among McQueen fashionistas.

Designer Sarah Burton has injected the theatrical essence of McQueen couture into a highly wearable collection of military inspired jackets, luxe architectural coats teamed with tailored bottoms and uber sexy above the knee gladiator dresses and skirts – all in a beautiful colour palette of cobalt blue, black and red, along with some stunning prints. Key fabrics include leather and wool and detailing includes gold buttons on pleated uniform fabrics.

There is a heavy emphasis on the masculine – a theme that’s run through most catwalk shows for the past season, and judging by the pre-fall collections, it sees no signs of stopping; but Burton combines this trend with a highly feminine edge. I WANT EVERYTHING!!
