One of the most eccentric, visionary and avant-garde style icons in contemporary culture came face to face with one of music’s coat-hangers of the un-conventional; and who some would call an ‘icon’, in Milan this weekend. Yes, Anna Della Russo met Lady GaGa. An explosion of crazy that some feared we would never survive, but luckily, the earth is still turning. Just.
Russo, a self-publicist, stylist and Editor-at-Large for Vogue Nippon (who channelled GaGa for her Halloween costume) met the singer backstage at her Monsters Ball show in the Italian city, which also happens to be where she resides.
Russo wore Gareth Pugh for the occasion, with GaGa’s own stylist and Thierry Mugler Creative Director, Nicola Formichetti tweeting a pic of the pair (above). After the meeting, Russo took to her very own blog to say:
“Finally I met my MUSE!
“I took a present for LADY GAGA because I knew she hates BARBIE. I gave her a little doll that represent her.
“I was impressed by LADY GAGA’s performance on stage: SHE’s totally a complete ARTIST, SHE’s a musician, SHE’s a fashion icon, SHE’s a singer, SHE’s a dancer, SHE’s a poet with a VOICE out of the ordinary.
“SHE’s a new MEDIA of communication.
So you get the picture right?… ADR J’ADR’s the Gaga.
And talking of she of heel-less heels and teacup accessories fame, if you haven’t seen Entertainment Weekly‘s homage to the singer, who they crown one of their stars of 2010…then head over here . Think Barbie as GaGa… and you have it in one.
