Cult US womenswear brand Tory Burch is to open its first UK store in London this month.
The label has a relatively low key presence in the UK, but with celebrity fans including Cameron Diaz, Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, Uma Thurman and Hilary Swank in the US; it’s soon to become one of the hippest hang-outs on the British high-street, especially due to its location on Bond Street, where it will take over 4,200 sq foot of space formerly occupied by Louis Vuitton.
Burch (the brains and beauty behind the successful label) previously worked for Ralph Lauren and Vera Wang before launching her eponymous brand in 2004.
Signatures include graphic prints, bold stand-out colour palettes, ethnic influences and the “T” logo running across all clothing, accessories, handbags and footwear. Think “boho-preppy-luxe” and you’ve got it.
Discussing her move to London, Burch says: “The store is not enormous, but it’s the perfect size and there is such energy on New Bond Street.
“I feel fortunate to be able to come to Europe, where people are responding to the collection, which is growing fast. This is an American brand with a very global point of view, and my design aesthetic is inspired by different countries around the world.”
The store will feature antique furniture and a library, giving it that “homely” feel and will also include a tented ceiling and a private room for VIPs and exclusive events.
Tory Burch opens on 9 Dec at 149 Bond St…..and in the meantime, check out the latest Resort ’10, A/W ’10 and S/S ’11 collections here www.toryburch.com
