The man needed to work. We all do. So let’s not criticise Robert De Niro too much for this recently uncovered ad of the great actor modelling a hair-embracing comb.
This was the early 70s when people had hair. Hair was really important then. So, the future Oscar-winner’s verve put him in good stead. You can see from this picture that the man’s a winner.
Apparently promoting a prototype of the Remington Hot Comb, this ad circa 1973 came only a year before his Oscar role in ‘The Godfather: Part II’.
The comb was said to help a man through hair disasters. That’s not mid-hair disasters either.
Thanks to Chicago film critic Roger Ebert for digging this yokfest up for all of us.
