Oooooh… if you could see one film tomorrow, 14 October, which would you see?
The choice is easy: ‘Let The Right One In’ remade by the Americans as ‘Let Me In’ (big jokes over that – would ‘The Longest Day’ be shortened to just ‘Day’?) is playing at the London Film Festival and some other days too. This story starring two young actors and a lot of blood will thrill those who love all things fangora. It’s thrilling, beautiful and surprising, especially if you haven’t seen the downright oddball wonder of the Swedish original.
While it is different in many ways from the lovable, adorable and great original, ‘Let Me In’ has its ups and downs.
UPS: GREAT car accidents, terrific performances and a nice nifty pace. Chloe Moretz (although I am quite bored by her now post ‘Kick-Ass’) is good as is the kid Kodi Smit-McPhee and Richard Jenkins (who is just always good, even in ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, which I liked).
DOWNS: Too much damned music, telegraphing every scary thing; too active, no stillness, predictable and the end sequence is not as classy as the original.
Don’t just believe me, though. Book it here now and see for yourself at the London Film Festival.
