It’s Just A Matter Of Time….
God Only Knows how a film based on the music of 60s band The Beach Boys will actually turn out…it could be enough to make me want to stay In My Room or go see it with The Little Old Lady From Pasedena. Wouldn’t It Be Nice if it turned out to be good?
The Beach Boys project comes from Fox 2000 as the studio with co-producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron – who did ‘Hairspray’, ‘Chicago’ and currently ‘Footloose’ – who are ready to wrestle it to the ground. John Stamos is the additional co-producer; he sat-in with the modern Beach Boys as a drummer and also starred in Meron and Zadan’s film ‘The Beach Boys: An American Family’, so the whole team have covered this ground before.
Don’t Worry Baby: it won’t be a story about Brian Wilson. Expect this one to be like ‘Mamma Mia’, that is to say, stealing the great catchy tunes and slapping them on some old tired plot (which has yet to be revealed). The studio outbid others for the rights to use the Beach Boys’ tunes fixed to a pitch by the woman who gave us ‘Erin Brockovich’, Susannah Grant, who took ‘north’ of $2m for her time and effort.
I Can Hear Music… all the way to the bank.
