Never mind, here are the films released this week, leaving out ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ because it couldn’t make up its mind about its own release date.
‘Made in Dagenham’ – The Big British Movie of the week stars Sally Hawkins as the real life union leader fighting for equal pay for Ford workers in 1950s UK. Bob Hoskins is awful cute too. A nice moving story that’s not sure if its a comedy or serious. Carry On Striking? Trailer here.
‘Takers’ – A stylish, pacey heist movie filled with good looking guys who can also act, save for T.I. who is terrible. Cops and robbers dressed by GQ; pretty snappy. Trailer here.
‘Buried’ – A perfectly serviceable B-movie where Ryan Reynolds is buried alive in a box. I found it irritating but I don’t like being buried alive in a box. Trailer here.
‘Back to the Future’ – Michael J Fox, a Delorean and a classic comedy rereleased. You won’t remember it, but your mom will.Trailer here.
…and the rest….
‘Bella’ – As a successful professional footballer’s career comes to an end, he meets a beautiful waitress as often happens in films. A big hit at the Toronto Film Festival of two years ago. Trailer here.
‘Collapse’ – Documentary centring on conspiracy theorist Michael Ruppert’s prediction of the end of the world. Sort of cool. Trailer here.
‘The First Movie’ – The magic realist documentary set in Iraq by Mark Cousins.
‘Garfield’s Pet Force 3D’ – The cartoon cat teams up with another cartoon cat to save the world in 3D; may require a bucket. Trailer here.
‘Little Big Soldier’ – Jackie Chan wrote and stars in this war tale of an old soldier taking a general back for a reward. Quite nice Chinese period comedy/drama with expected stuntage. Trailer here.
‘Police, Adjective’ – Romanian film where a policeman doesn’t arrest someone for drugs like he should have according to law. Serious gritty morality tale.Trailer here.
‘The Secret of the Kells’ – nice old-fashioned animated Irish medieval movie for kids who don’t get bored easily. See the trailer here.
