Okay, so George Clooney, whose latest feature ‘The American’ is not doing so well on its release in the USA, has said that he’s not afraid of getting older because he’s never been typecast. That’s because he has never been successful enough to be typecast. Um…I guess that means that he’s not been a Marvel superhero yet, has not been cast in the upcoming ‘Battleship’ or ‘Drive’ and has yet to be given a role in ‘Kick-Ass 2′.
The salt-and-pepper-haired star says, “That’s down to lack of success. No, really. Being hugely successful in a certain role or genre comes with the risk of being typecast. So far I was lucky – in moderation… The second reason is my advanced age. I’m literally aging before your faces. I’m not vain though. I welcome it, the ageing. Otherwise I would have coloured my hair by now.”
George Clooney currently has only ten films lined up in varying stages of development. His career arc shows heavy concentrations of characters who are handsome men playing handsome men, but also – as in the cases of ‘Welcome to Collinwood’ and ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ – handsome guys who are also not very smart.
Still, any indie filmmaker would sell his mother to get Clooney onboard.
Oh, and Clooney’s rep denied rumours of his engagement to Elisabetta Canalis. So there.
